Follicle Stimulator by TherapyG is a product specifically designed to revitalize the health of individual follicles.
It contains a special patented ingredient they call the “Tryptobond Guard”, which increases hair’s mechanical strength, increases combability (less tangling and less breakage), and protects against color changes.
Who is Therapy-G?
TherapyG is a specialized hair loss product developer that offers shampoos, conditioners, treatments, and elaborate complex “systems”. These systems can be purchased as complete kits for fighting hair loss.
Their Follicle Stimulator product can be used in combination with their other products, or as a stand-alone enhancement for your hair loss needs.
Therapy G claims to sell the “most technologically advanced hair-loss treatment and hair-thinning treatment system available today.
The unique formulas enable you to detoxify, nourish, and stimulate the follicle, voluminize, moisturize, and protect the hair as well as to enhance styling.”
Therapy-G was first introduced in 1997 in Bologna, Italy at the Cosmoprof International Exhibition. Their main contribution to the world of hair loss product is their patented ingredient Tryptobond Guard. Therapy-G is based in Calabasas, which is part of Los Angeles, California, USA.
How to Use Therapy G Follicle Stimulator
After cleansing with antioxidant shampoo, apply 12 sprays of follicle stimulator throughout scalp to wet hair.
Gently massage your scalp for 15 seconds. Avoid letting the follicle stimulator fluid run down your face. Rinse after 1 minute, towel dry or follow with conditioning treatment.
Play with the slider below to see before and after.
TEMPORARY REDNESS WILL APPEAR ON SCALP AND FOREHEAD FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES.
Why? Follicle Stimulator stimulates blood circulation to the scalp and hair follicles, which also causes a tingling sensation and makes your scalp and forehead red for about 25-35 minutes.
Why Use Therapy-G Follicle Stimulator?
According to the geniuses at Therapy G, there are two main benefits for using their follicle stimulator.
Inside the follicle:
- Stimulates blood circulation to the hair follicle
- Extends the growth cycle of hair
On the hair itself:
- With the Moist Application Process (MAP), the nutrients are more effective vs. a leave-in surface application product
- Tryptobond Guard attaches itself to the hair to strengthen and protect from color fading.
I will say that this product has a really unusual blend of ingredients that I haven’t seen in other serums and sprays.
The follicle stimulator is directed at retaining the hair on the head for a longer time by extending the growth stage of the hair cycle. It also contains their famed patented TRYPTOBOND GUARD.
Tryptobond Guard is amino acid-based, and attaches itself to each hair strand it comes in contact with. It does NOT rinse off the hair. Tryptobond Guard protects hair from sun’s UV damage, breakage, color and tonality changes, and surface damage from styling stress.
What’s In It?
Aqua (Water) (Therapy G Menthol And Tryptobond Guard Tea), Alcohol Denat., Niacin, Biotin, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Menthol, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Ginkgo Biloba Leaf
Extract, Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E), Ascorbyl Palmitate(Vitamin C), Dimethylpabamidopropyl Laurdimonium Tosylate, Propylene Glycol Stearate, Parfum (Fragrance) (Linalool, Limonene, Hydroxycitronellal, Evernia Prunastri (Oakmoss) Extract, Citral, Coumarin, Geraniol), Red # 33 (CI 17200), Blue # 1 (CI 42090),Yellow # 5 (CI 19140).
So what does all of this mean? What I see are a combination of things I like and expect in a hair health product, and things I’m not thrilled with seeing.
The Tryptobond Guard we’ve hit on before, and it’s AWESOME that it doesn’t rinse off the hair.
The presence of the Menthol and the Peppermint are probably why this product warms and reddens and stimulates the scalp, since they have that effect when applied topically.
Think about toothpaste with peppermint flavor – your mouth generally feels tingly after brushing with this product!
Honestly, I’m not thrilled to see the artificial coloring, because I don’t think that beauty products really “need” artificial coloring. Can’t we as a world all agree to ditch this crap, already? Jeez!
I’m also not thrilled to see propylene glycol, which is an ingredient we’ve encountered before in Rogaine and Lipogaine that causes irritation for some people. “Dimethylpabamidopropyl Laurdimonium Tosylate” is an ingredient added to help condition hair and remove static, but for some can also cause skin irritation.
Ultimately, these “chemicals” are both tremendously common not only in our cleaning products and other beauty products, and also FOOD, but anyone with acute skin sensitivities should probably think twice before buying this Follicle Stimulator.
If you’re not sure if you have a sensitivity to these additives, it’s best to test on a small patch of skin (such as the inside of the wrist, or the corner of your hairline).
The internet is full of positive reviews of Therapy G Follicle Stimulator. Many people cite fuller hair, and long-term use, and some review it after being loyal for years.
One woman in particular described that before she started using this product, she was losing 20-30 strands per shampooing, but it’s now down to losing 3-5 strands.
She saw similar improvement while combing, which is exactly how you want to measure improvement in your hair loss. Fewer fallen strands means improved health for the follicles, as they do a better job of holding onto and gripping the hair.
Not everyone has sensitivities to the ingredients that I personally dislike (the propylene glycol and denatured alcohol), and honestly we all come in contact with these every day even in our FOOD. For most people, this will not pose a problem.
Some users are uncomfortable with the redness that temporarily results from using this product.
Because of the presence of propylene glycol, I think this product is best avoided by pregnant and nursing women. While inconclusive, studies have shown it can sometimes be harmful to fetuses.
I would like to see Therapy G improve upon their recipe with fewer harsh chemical ingredients.
Overall – Try it out!
